WATERLOO - LaVonne "Pat" Baseler, 84, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 21, at Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center, Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls.

She was born July 7, 1927, in Waterloo, daughter of John P. and Mabel Chisel Christiason. She married Edward Baseler on Dec. 11, 1948, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Oct. 15, 2004.

Mrs. Baseler graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1945 and had been employed as a secretary with John G. Miller Construction for six years. She was a member with the Red Hat Ladies, Chapter LK PEO and was a PTA president. She was an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church, was on the Presbytery Committee and was a Presbyterian Women president, a trustee and was involved with the Sewing Ladies.

Survived by a son, John E. (Pam) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter JoEllen K. (Stewart) Grapp of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Carrie (Joel) Federer, Laura and Jessica Baseler, Sarah (Nick) Hellman and Josh Grapp; and a brother, Milo G. (Marian) Christiason of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Christiason; and two sisters, Kathleen Christiason and Margaret Morris.
