.CEDAR FALLS - Ethel B. Surface, 102, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 20, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center from natural causes.

She was born Aug. 3, 1909, in Miles, daughter of John and Effie Bates Repp. She married Everett E. Surface on Oct. 20, 1929, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died April 21, 1975.

Mrs. Surface graduated from Janesville High School in 1926, then attended secretarial classes. She did some volunteering at her church and at the Western Home.

Survived by a daughter, Betty Knudsen of Cedar Falls; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Surface of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two sons, Robert “Bob” and Byron; a great-grandson, Peter Carmack; five brothers, Maurice, Clayton, Donald, Ross and Dr. John Repp; and two sisters, Dorothy Rick and Nadine Schmitt.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Western Home Communities Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church or Willowood

Ethel enjoyed traveling and did beautiful needlework. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
