RALSTON, BITTINGER, FRIEDL, TOWNSEND, CHRISTENSEN, ECK

WATERLOO - Milo F. Ralston, 88, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Lakeview Landing.

He was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Cedar Falls, son of E.A. and Verna H. Bittinger Ralston. He married Rosemary Friedl on May 19, 1949, in Waterloo.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Ralston was employed with John Deere P.E.C for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He also was a tour guide at John Deere for 17 years and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Survived by his wife; two sons, James (Delia) of Waterloo and Michael of Waterloo; two daughters, Terry (Jim) Townsend of Clarksville, Tenn., and Marianne (Jim) Christensen of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Miranda) Townsend, Sam Christensen, Chuck Christensen, Peter Christensen, Elizabeth (Jason) Groom, Tom Ralston and Margaret Ralston; a great-granddaughter, Adalyne Rose Townsend; and a sister, Margaret Eck of Humboldt.

Preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Scott; a sister, Dorothy; a granddaughter, Gretchen Christensen; and a brother-in-law, Don Eck.

Services: 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church, followed by full military rites at the church by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery at a later date. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil. There will be no visitation at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army or Cedar Valley Hospice.
