WATERLOO - Charles W. Schuster, 65, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 14, at NewAldaya Lifescapes, formerly the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, after a short illness.

He was born Oct. 31, 1945, in Cherry Point, N.C., son of Carl and Helen Cornell Schuster. He married Cathy Keiderling July 7, 1967, in Waterloo and they divorced after 14 years of marriage.

He graduated from Columbus High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was employed with American Family Insurance for many years and also with the Logan Avenue Hy-Vee in Waterloo.

Survived by two daughters, Lynn (Jeff ) Lindquist of Des Moines and Julie (Joel) Pietig of Parkersburg; five grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Jean) of Des Moines; and a sister, Mary (Joe) Reuter of Ocala, Fla.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford. A celebration of life will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Main Street at NewAldaya Lifescapes. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
