WATERLOO - George E. Faris Jr., 82, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 12, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center of respiratory failure.

He was born July 26, 1928, in Vinton, son of George Edward Sr. and Gladys Irene Fintel Faris. He married Maxine Dickinson on Sept. 29, 1946, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

Mr. Faris retired from John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a machinist. He also owned and operated Faris Trucking, Faris Riding Arena and the Ranchero Saddle Shop.

Survived by his wife; a son, Donald of Waterloo; a daughter, Barbara (Doug) McCalley of Waterloo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Elvin Dean.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the funeral chapel.
