WATERLOO - Alexander James Warnke, 20, of Waterloo, formerly of Fayette, died at home Sunday, July 10.

He was born May 13, 1991, in Oelwein, son of Bret Anthony Warnke and Sharon Rae Pape. He graduated from West Central High School, Maynard, in 2009, and was a student at Hawkeye Community College and also was working at Menards. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard.

Survived by his parents, Sharon Pape of Fayette, Bret and Marla Warnke of Westgate, and Jeff Niemann of Fayette; four brothers, Anthony Warnke of New York, N.Y., James Niemann of Fayette, Adam Berkes of Sumner and Ashton Berkes of Oelwein; a sister, Brittney Warnke of Cedar Rapids; grandparents, Vernita Pape of Stanley, Mary and Marvin Seegers of Westgate, Urban and Pat Berkes of Fayette and Julene and Paul Fox of Oelwein; his great-grandmother, Marion Kempson of Parrish, Fla.; a nephew, Trevor James Berkes of Sumner; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by his grandfathers, Roger Warnke and Victor Pape; and two cousins, Quinton Berkes and Devin Berkes.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Westgate. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard, with an 8 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.

Alex's beautiful smile could light up a room. He was a hardworking, generous person with a huge heart. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobile and spending time with his family and friends.
