Mabel L. (Crain) Simpson 1912-2009

CEDAR FALLS - Mabel L. Simpson, 96, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Feb. 15, at Maple Manor Village, Aplington.

She was born Nov. 14, 1912, in Northwood, daughter of Charles B. and Loretta R. Bilsland Crain. She married Kenneth W. Simpson on May 1, 1934, in Waterloo. He died Feb. 19, 1984.

Survived by: a son, Charles (Lori) of Des Moines; two daughters, Lou Ann Strickland and Loretta (Jim) Fekkers, both of Aplington; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son-in-law, Phillip Strickland; three brothers, Raymond, Charles and Harold Crain; and her sister, Rosemond Dawson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
