Donald Ray Brunson September 26, 1927-July 2, 1009

WATERLOO — Donald Ray Brunson, 81, of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 2, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Waterloo, son of William A. and Hazel B. Crowley Brunson. He married Delores Hochstetler, and they were later divorced. He then married Bernice C. Handlen in Sioux Falls, S.D., on May 16, 1959.

Mr. Brunson was employed as a millwright at Rath Packing Company.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, John (Nona), Dan (Karol) and Rick (Marla), all of Waterloo; four daughters, Vonna (Larry) Akers and Kimberly Brunson, both of Waterloo, Dawn (Mark) Blake of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Twyla (Bill) Dawson of Minneapolis; two stepdaughters, Chris (Jim) McGee of Cedar Falls and Pam (Don) Ward of Florida; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenny (Myrtle) of Arizona; and a sister, Jerry Patton of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Lila Bergeson and Marion Hyberger; a brother in infancy, Alvin Brunson; and a stepson, Michael Palmer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-Waterloo Ward. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
