CEDAR FALLS - Norman Lewis Stahl, 78, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, July 8, at Cedar Valley Hospice after a long illness.

He was born April 11, 1933, in West Union, son of Prentis and Lillian Koester Stahl. He married Donna Emma Leith Aug. 31, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

He graduated from East Waterloo High School in 1952. Mr. Stahl served for three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked for more than 30 years at Rath Feed. He retired from Waterloo Industries and worked for the Corp of Engineers after retirement.

Survived by two daughters, Cindy (Tom) Wood of Salt Lake City, Utah and Donita Vaughn of Waterloo; three sons, Duane (Colleen) of Davenport, Norman (Karla) of Platte City, Mo., and Quintin of Northfield, Minn.; a sister, Ellen (Bill) Wilharm of LaCrosse, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Micheal, Tomas and Heather Wood, April (Lee) Cook, Jordan, Zachary, Andrew and Sarah Stahl, and Alex K. W. Vaughn; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Charles Farrell; and a sister, Leona Polk.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.

His hobbies were camping, fishing, canoeing, and mushroom hunting. Norman very much enjoyed his affiliation with the Rambling Wheels Motorcycle Club and his cats, Buddy and Lizzie.
