Norma (Crosby) Wilder 1909-2009

WATERLOO — Norma Wilder, 99, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at Allen Hospital.

She was born Nov. 18, 1909 in rural Butler County, daughter of Lloyd A. and Aura Kelley Crosby. She married Byrl Monroe Wilder June 21, 1930, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1998.

Mrs. Wilder graduated from Greene High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in several country schools around Clarksville and Greene in Butler County. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, JoEllen (Cliff) Mittlestadt of Ozark, Mo., and Dawn (Dennis) Hoffman of Waterloo; a son, Arlen Wilder of Waterloo; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Ian K.; a daughter-in-law, Marita Wilder; a brother, Neil Crosby; and a sister, Avis Bonde.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
