CEDAR FALLS —- Jon W. Trost, 70, of Cedar Falls, died at his home June 16 of cancer.

He was born Aug. 30, 1940, in Waterloo, son of Orval and Neva Fjetland Trost.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1958, and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa in 1963. Mr. Trost joined the U.S. Air Force in 1963, logging more than 9,500 flight hours and receiving several honors and awards. He served in Vietnam, retiring in 1984 with the rank of Major.

Survived by his father of Waverly; a brother, Jim (Lory) of Waverly; a sister, Sandy McDonald of Waverly; several nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; a great-nephew; and a great-great-niece.

Preceded in death by his mother.

Celebration of Life Open House: 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Narey’s 19th Hole, 2073 Logan Ave.

Memorials may be directed to any military charity of choice, in lieu of flowers.

Besides enjoying many sports, Jon loved to travel. He had been to over 90 countries and on every continent except the Antarctica. He was especially proud of the three oak clusters for his service in Vietnam.
