WATERLOO - Viola E. Schoneberg Richardson Zeran, 89, of Waterloo, formerly of Bedford, died Friday, June 3, at Lakeview Landing, Friendship Village, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 23, 1921, on the family farm near Tripoli, daughter of Emil C. and Amanda Meier Schoneberg. She married Marvin Weldon Richardson on Feb. 28, 1941, at First Lutheran Church, Waterloo. He died Dec. 19, 1986. On May 10, 1991, she married Warner Zeran. He died May 22, 2000.

Mrs. Zeran attended school in Waterloo, worked for John Deere during World War II for four years and was a nurse's aide at Allen Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survived by a son, Kyle L. (Mary) Richardson of Austin, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Diane Richardson of Lena, Ill.; three grandsons, Chad (Stephanie) Richardson of Lawrence, Kan., Todd (Katie) Richardson of Evansville, Ind., and Brett Richardson of Lena; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; two stepdaughters, Evonne Jennett and Joan Bathum; four stepgrandsons; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leslie and Lavern Schoneberg; and a son, Gary Richardson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Viola loved doing needlepoint and crocheting. She learned how to play the organ and play pool as an adult. She was known as "The Purple Wizard" at Friendship Village with her purple pool stick. Viola also enjoyed watching professional basketball and had the privilege of attending a San Antonio Spurs game to celebrate a recent birthday.
