CEDAR FALLS - Donald D. Peters, 74, of Cedar Falls, died at home Friday, June 3.

He was born March 27, 1937, in Holland, Iowa, son of John J. and Elizabeth Hillygus Peters. He married Norma Boysen on Jan. 13, 1962, in Cedar Falls, and they later separated.

Mr. Peters served in the U. S. Army and was employed at John Deere in Waterloo from 1960 to 1991.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; a son, Mark (Frank) of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Karla (Shawn) Chestnut of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Theresa, Nick, Ellie, Gabe, Anna and Hope Chestnut; two great-grandchildren, Daylynn and Talan; two brothers, Ivan (Becky) of Batavia and Ronald (Sharon) of Tripoli; two sisters, Lois (Andrew) Muller and Marian Bundy, both of Cedar Falls; a brother-in-law, Vernon Petersen of Dike; and three sisters-in-law, Minnie Klingenborg of LeRoy, Minn., LaVerne Peters of Albert Lea, Minn., and Karen Casto of West Virginia.

Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Herbert, Duane, Edwin and LaVerne; three sisters, Lorraine Peters, Janice Huebner and Marlys Petersen; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Bundy and Kenneth Huebner.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Orchard Hill Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Special Olympics.
