WATERLOO - Ronald J. Lutgen, 84, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, May 7.

He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Waterloo, son of Michael and Maye Monahan Lutgen. In 1951 he married Donna M. Delagardelle.

Mr. Lutgen served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1944-46, then earned a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Iowa in 1950. He retired in 1982 as vice president from Household Finance Corp. after 32 years of service. He then went on to serve as vice president of Boatman's Bank, retiring in 1989.

Survived by his wife; three daughters, Michelle Davis, Pam (Jim) Turner and Karen (Alan) Harris; a son, Mark (Shelley); 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pat Angstman and Sharon Lutgen.

Preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Mary and Bob and Jacqueline.

Services were May 11 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with entombment in Mount Olivet Mausoleum, both in Kansas City. McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, Kansas City, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Crossroads Hospice or the church.
