CEDAR FALLS - Lillie Bell Kibbee, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born June 4, 1921, near Sigourney, daughter of Grover and Emma Bird. She married Raymond LeRoy Kibbee on Dec. 19, 1939. Together they made their home in Cedar Falls with their eight children. Lillie enjoyed her life as a mother and homemaker on their farm. Later she helped in the daycare and taught Bible study at her church. Raymond passed away on June 30, 1995.

Lillie enjoyed life for its smallest of gifts, be it a deer at her bird feeder, a hummingbird in her flower garden, a holiday meal surrounded by family, a hug from anybody, or just quiet time at her kitchen table reading her Bible. She did not live for the material and trivial things in life and praised God everyday for the blessed life she had been given. Lillie had a gentleness about her that made people feel comfort and love from the first time they met her as she would wrap them up in a big hug. She held great pride in her heart for her husband, her family, her church family and her friends, viewing them all as her life's accomplishments.

It's hard to put into words everything Lillie's life was, but if ever there were angels on earth, we just lost one and heaven just got a whole light brighter. She will be greatly missed and always loved. She was truly an angel on earth.

Lillie is survived by seven children, Betty (Ronald) Salisbury of Dunkerton, Eleanor "Ellie" Pierce of Cedar Falls, Mary Randall of Raymond, Larry (Josetta "Jo") Kibbee of Raymond, and Kenneth (Gloria) Kibbee, Ricky Kibbee and Dixie (David) Athey, all of Waterloo; daughter-in-law, Dorie Kibbee of Cedar Falls; a sister, Opal McIntyre of Waterloo; 29 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lillie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond; a son, William Kibbee; a daughter-in-law, Donna Kibbee; three brothers, Archie, Ward and Forrest Bird; two sisters, Elva Eden and Ruby Ryder; and four grandchildren, Raymond Pierce, Deb and Nick Miller and David Ray Pierce.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to the service at the funeral home,
