WATERLOO - Paul Edward Kirsch, 89, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 20, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Waterloo, son of Grover M. and Mamie Wagner Kirsch. He married Louise Quinn May 5, 1947, in Waterloo. She died Oct. 23, 2005.

He graduated from East Sioux City High School in 1940. Mr. Kirsch served in the U.S. Army, serving in Foggia, Italy until 1945. He worked in construction in the area for many years.

Survived by two sons, Robert (Linda) of Cedar Rapids and Andrew of Omaha, Neb.; four daughters, Margaret (Bill) Buell of Maneo, N.C., Annie Kacher and Katie (Mark) Hildman, all of Waterloo, and Mary (Lon) Sinclair of Des Moines; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Al Schneiders of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Schneiders; a grandson, Adam Clark; and a brother, James.

Services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 7 p.m. vigil service, and will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
