DUNKERTON - Stanley D. Hilmer, 84, of Belvidere, Ill., formerly of Dunkerton, died Sunday, May 15, at IVAC Hospital, Peru, Ill.

He was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Black Hawk County, son of Nelda and William Hilmer. He married Patricia Michaelsen in Grand Meadow, Minn.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Hilmer worked as a custodian at Waterloo schools, then worked in trucking. In 1959 he began farming in the Dunkerton area, retiring in 1999 when he went to work full time at the Waterloo and Belvidere Walmarts in the Lawn and Garden Department, retiring at age 82.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Patrice (Dave) Sheridan of Belvidere; three grandchildren, Chris Dally of Waterloo, and Jennifer and Megan Dally, both of Belvidere; and two brothers, Robert of Waterloo and Carroll of Vinton.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church (Barclay Township), 7837 E. Airline Highway, Dunkerton.
