DUNCAN, SIMMONS, DITTMAN, AIKEY, JOHANNSEN

WATERLOO - Robert L. Duncan, 79, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, May 2.

He was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Harlingen, Texas, son of Robert and Annie Simmons Duncan. He married Rose C. Dittman on July 23, 1954, at the Marine Corps base in Opalocka, Fla.

Mr. Duncan attended high school in Harlingen and had worked as a federal grain inspector for several years. He then worked for the city of Waterloo Street Department. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Michael (Mary) of North St. Paul, Minn., Pat (Lora) of Wellsburg and Dan of Waterloo; three daughters, Barbara (Dale) Aikey and Theresa (Dean) Aikey, both of Plainfield, and Mary (Kent) Johannsen of La Porte City; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, James; and a grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Visitation for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
