DECKER, BLUME, LARSON

Marvel F. Decker of Arcadia, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Arcadia Health Care Center, a skilled nursing facility.

He never married and leaves no children. There will be no services. He will be interred in the Veterans' Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

He was born in Waterloo on June 6, 1922, to Fred and Lula Decker. He graduated from Waterloo East High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II as a rear gunner and radio operator in a torpedo bomber flying off an aircraft carrier.

He was a graduate of the University of Southern California which he attended on the G.I. Bill. He worked in business and as a school teacher.

He is survived by a brother, Howard Decker, of Desert Edge, Calif.; a sister, Norma Blume of Sierra Madre, Calif.; four nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Luverne Decker; and a sister, Lois Larson.
