CEDAR FALLS - John "Jack" Weigel, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, April 20, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born Jan. 18, 1938, in New Hampton, son of Irwin and Nellie Fitzgerald Weigel. He married Doris Kriener April 18, 1959, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas.

He graduated from New Hampton High School and received airline training from Gale Institute in Minneapolis. He was employed by American Airlines in Chicago, Ozark Airlines in Mason City and Fort Dodge, and transferred to the Waterloo Airport in 1961. With the Ozark/TWA merger, he transferred to the Cedar Rapids Airport and Des Moines International Airport, retiring in 1999 after 40 years of service. He worked part-time at Dan Deery Motors from January 2000 to January 2010. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Sons of AMVETS Post 49, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Randall (Kimberly) of Southlake, Texas and Greg (Kelly) of Oakland, Calif.; two daughters, Lori (David) Ceilley of Fort Myers, Fla., and Lisa (Kevin) Brandt of Billings, Mont.; 11 grandchildren, Karly, Ryan, Cheylee, and Royce Weigel, Connor and Savanah Ceilley, Jonathon and Lauren Brandt, Lily, and Lane and Casey Jean Weigel; three brothers, William (Marlene) and Russell of New Hampton and James (Sharon) of Charles City; and a brother-in-law, Ray Schwickerath of Fredericksburg.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian Heiselman, Virginia Schwickerath and Marie Schwickerath; and five brothers-in-law, Gerald Heiselman, Vincent Schwickerath, Henry Kriener, Glen Klimesh and Jerome Imoehl.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with inurnment at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorial fund will be established at a later date.

His family, friends and neighbors will always remember his kindness, sincerity, and concern for others throughout his life.
