WATERLOO - Benny Cofer Bennett, 83, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 17, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born March 28, 1928, in Waterloo, son of Joseph and Lena Cofer Duke. He married Augustine Sanders on June 28, 1953, in Waterloo. She died Nov. 28, 2006.

Mr. Bennett graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1948 and worked at Rath Packing Co. for more than 35 years. He was a member of Payne Memorial AME Church.

Survived by a son, Kevin T. of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Benny J.; an infant daughter, Donna Jean; a brother, Joseph A.; and a sister, Drucella Robinson.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Greer Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
