WATERLOO - Billie Jo Puhl, 55, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 19, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born April 16, 1956, in Waterloo, daughter of Ralph G. and Norma J. Jaquith Nieman. She married Dan Sanders on June 11, 1978, and they later divorced. She married James R. Puhl on Sept. 26, 1992, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Puhl had worked as a waitress in local restaurants for the past 25 years.

Survived by her husband; a son, Dan Sanders Jr. of Waterloo; two daughters, Amy Jo (Jose) Lopez and Melissa L. Sanders, both of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Tyra Jo Desiderio, Nolasco Desiderio, Damon Schmidt Jr., Domion Schmidt and Anthony Schmidt; six brothers, Tim (Chris), Rich, Ted (Lynn) and Ralph Nieman Jr., and Steven (Tammy) Rambo, all of Waterloo, and Tom Rambo of Mesa, Ariz.; and five sisters, Lynda Eastman of Davenport, Leanna Franco of Waterloo, Sandy (Rich) Holm and Nancy (Jeff Sanderson) Spooner, both of Waverly, and Debbie (Steve) Young of North Carolina.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Brenda Nieman; and two nephews, Brandon Nieman and Allan Hanson Jr.

Family-directed memorial services: 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
