WATERLOO - Cecil R. Lauterbach, 82, of Reinbeck, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 6, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center, following a brief illness.

He was born March 27, 1928, in Reinbeck, son of Edd and Esther Meewes Lauterbach. He married Mary Ann Stewart on July 27, 1952, in Waterloo. She died June 22, 1988. He married Diana Cummings on April 7, 1989, in Waterloo.

Mr. Lauterbach graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1949 and attended the typesetting program at the University of Iowa. He was an electrician at John Deere for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948, was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church, was a member of American Legion Post 138 and AMVETS Post 19, was a 50-year member of the American Numismatic Association and had been a volunteer with Cedar Valley Hospice since 1988.

Survived by his wife; a son, Charles (Teresa) of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Jane Marie (Mark) Hill of Cedar Rapids and Ann Elizabeth (Rochelle Prunty) Lauterbach of Putney, Vt.; a stepdaughter, Mona (Kevin) Ash of Grundy Center; four stepsons, Roy (Linda Dixon) Cummings of Portland, Ore., Mark Cummings of Cedar Falls, Lee (Teresa Urich) Cummings of Waterloo and Glen (Sherry) Cummings of Spencer; a granddaughter; 11 stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and three brothers, Russell and James, both of Waterloo, and Gary (Rosella) of Humbolt.

Preceded in death by a stepson, Carl Cummings; a stepgrandson, John Cummings; and two brothers, Leon and Kenneth.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
