WATERLOO — Lorraine D. Koch, 86, of Waterloo, died Saturday, March 12, at Lakeview Landing.
She was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Britt, daughter of Leo A. and Erma N. Evans Colter. She married Richard W. Koch on Sept. 13, 1947, at St. John's Catholic Church, Waterloo. He died April 30, 1973.
Mrs. Koch graduated from St. John's Catholic School, Waterloo, and worked at Prudential Life Insurance after high school. She and her husband owned and operated Waterloo Metal and Manufacturing until 1986.
Survived by a son, William R. (Lynor) of Waterloo; two daughters, Deborah (Paul) Oliver of Marcy, N.Y., and Linda (Dan) Butler of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Kimberly Oliver, Karen (Justin) Gage, Colleen Oliver, Matthew (Kimberly) Butler and Timothy (Christy) Butler; three great-grandchildren, Cannon, Chloe and Claire Butler; a brother, the Rev. Dennis Colter of Waterloo; and a sister, Margaret Miller of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by a son, James; a granddaughter, Meghan Oliver; three brothers, Francis "Fritz," Donald and Gene; and two sisters, Charlotte Wysocki and Rose Marie Griebel.
Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 7 p.m. vigil. No visitation before services Thursday at the church.
Lorraine had a passion for playing bridge. She belonged to numerous bridge clubs, one of which consisted of a group of friends from her graduating class. She received a kidney transplant from her brother Dennis in 1975. Lorraine also enjoyed dolls, sewing clothing for them and then donating them to needy children.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice Compassus or Cedar Valley Catholic Schools.
