WATERLOO, IOWA — Velma June Padget, 76, of Waterloo, died Sunday, March 6, at Covenant Medical Center

She was born June 29, 1934, in Fayette County, daughter of Frank and Theresa
Freiderich Fox. She married Milton Piehl in 1951, and they later divorced. She then married Cecil Padget on Nov. 29, 1963. He died Dec. 10, 1989.

Mrs. Padget received her GED from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in 1976 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survived by: a son, Ralph (Saran) Piehl of Heartland, Wis.; two daughters, Sandy (DeWayne) Jacobson of Waterloo and Cindy (Mark Caulfield) Piehl of Urbandale; a stepdaughter, Susan Thode of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Tom) Dauphin, Dustin Piehl, Devin (Larissa) Piehl and Dayne Piehl, all of Wisconsin, and Jackie (Mike) VanNice, Angie (Casey) Jacobson and John (Toni) Jacobson, all of Waterloo; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a grandson, Jayme Wright; three sisters, Emily DeHart, Anna Dallenbach and Mary Anway; and two brothers, Kenneth Fox and Bernard Fox.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Velma’s greatest joy was her family, and along with receiving hand-crocheted items, every grandchild was taught the song "Jesus Loves Me" and was taught how to pray.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
