CEDAR FALLS- Lester F. Rittgers, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, August 11, [2008] at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born September 12, 1912 in Johnston Station, the son of Jasper and Margaret (Wilson) Rittgers. He married Anna Alice Rasmussen on September 6, 1941 in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Rittgers graduated from Ankeny High School and furthered his education at Iowa State University. He and his wife farmed in rural Cedar Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Cedar Falls; two sons, Lee (Sandy) Rittgers of Cedar Falls and Larry (Suzy) Rittgers, also of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Lois Stork of New Hartford, Mary (Tom) Kies of Jesup and Lynn (John) Korecki of Umpqua, OR; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret McBride of Ankeny.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd and Fred; and a sister, Ruth.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with interment in Fairfield Cemetery, New Hartford. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to services Friday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

During his life, Lester was active in the First Baptist Church, the Grundy County and Iowa Farm Bureau and maintaining the Fairfield Township Cemetery.
