WATERLOO - Viola J. Hofner, 84, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Feb. 17, at her home of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 28, 1926, in rural Preston, Minn., daughter of Ira and Maggie Vrieze Ter Maat. She married Frank F. Hofner June 21, 1947, in Cherry Grove, Minn. He died Feb. 11, 1989.

She was a member of Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survived by three sons, Robert (Deborah) of Ostrander, Minn., Dennis of Waterloo and David of Cherry Grove, Minn.; a daughter, Linda Wolner of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Miki (Randy) Runde, Jason (Brenda) Hofner and Joshua Wolner; three great-grandchildren, Haley and Emily Hofner, and Jordan Runde; and two brothers, Ivan (Bonnie) Ter Maat of Spring Valley and Garry (Diane) Ter Maat, all of Spring Valley, Minn.

Preceded in death by a sister, Ione Bacon.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Faith United Methodist Church, Spring Valley, Minn., with burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Cherry Grove, Minn. Public visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, and from noon until service time Monday at the church.

Memorial fund: will be established.
