Steven M. Kneeskern, 60, of Reading, Pa., and a former resident of Southwick, Mass., and Waterloo, Iowa, Passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.

Steve was born in Waterloo on Oct. 7, 1950, one of eight children of Dorothy A. (Delamore) Kneeskern of Waterloo and the late Kenneth W. Kneeskern.

Steve graduated from Columbus High School in Waterloo. He was employed as a groundskeeper for Reading Hospital and previously worked for Smith and Wesson in Springfield, Mass. for Many years.

Steve's family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all of his family members, his friends and the staff of the Heartland Hospice in Wyomissing, Pa. for all of their time, their visits and their compassionate care of Steve during his illness.

In addition to his dear mother, Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him including his devoted wife, Susan (Goncalves) Kneeskern; his loving children, Keri Kneeskern and Jake Maurer of Ludlow, Mass., Amy Deveno and her husband Jason of Feedings Hills, Mass. and Kim Fiorentino and her husband Jeremy of West Springfield, Mass.; his cherished grandchildren, Zayden Maurer, Allison Deveno and Kate Fiorentino; his dear brothers, James "Todd" Kneeskern and his wife Muriel of Springfield, Mass., William "Bill" Kneeskern of Waterloo, Iowa, Mark Kneeskern and his wife Lisa of Clarksville, Iowa and Albert "Chip" Kneeskern of Waterloo; his dear sisters, Krisann KauMans and her husband Daniel, Julie DeVries and her husband Robert and Lisa Heiple and her husband Steve, all of Waterloo; and his Many dear nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and extended family members and friends.

Steve's family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sampson's Funeral Home, 710 Liberty Street in Springfield, Mass. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Sampson's Funeral Home in Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 94 Springfield Street, with Rites of Committal and Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery on Hampden Street, both in Chicopee, Mass.
