WATERLOO — Charles William Maust, 86, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 28, at Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Spokane, of heart failure.

He was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Davenport, son of Max Miller Maust and Jenny Mae Gibson Maust. He married Eleanor Leona Callan on Dec. 15, 1944, in Waterloo.

Mr. Maust graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1943. He worked in the tire industry for 47 years, most recently as the regional manager for Bandag Inc., retiring in 1989.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Sharon Maust of Spokane and Patti (Gary) Roadhouse of Tacoma, Wash.; a son, Max (Nancy) of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Aileen Maust Hansen.

Memorial services 10 a.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, Spokane Valley, Wash.

Charles was an avid reader, golfer and fisherman. He truly enjoyed life and loved to laugh. His happiest moments were spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
