CEDAR FALLS — Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Ernst, 78, of Cedar Falls, died at home Saturday, Jan. 29, of Parkinson's disease.

She was born March 14, 1932, in Waukon, daughter of James and Loretta Riley Marsden. She married Roger Ernst, and they later divorced.

Ms. Ernst was a graduate of Waukon High School, Waukon, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. She worked in home health care for many years, retiring in 1997.

Survived by a son, Alan (Michelle) of Parkersburg; five daughters, Kim (Byron) Hager of McKinney, Texas, Pam (Rick) Caley of Cedar Falls, Kristy Sullivan and Roxanne Marchese, both of Waterloo, and Sandy Colella of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two brothers, Donald Marsden of Mabel, Minn., and Jack Marsden of Waukon.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, James Arthur; a sister, Mary O'Malley; and a brother, Robert Marsden.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with inurnment in Waukon at a later date. Visitation for an hour before services at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. She was cremated at her request.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

The family would like to thank Iowa Hospice for making Betty's final days peaceful. A special thank you to Nurse Jay and all the support.
