LA PORTE CITY — Elizabeth N. "Toots" Niemeyer, 91, of La Porte City, died Sunday, Jan. 30, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Jan. 9, 1920, in La Porte City, daughter of Tom W. and Anna Kaiser Elliott. She married Clifford D. Niemeyer on Oct. 15, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo. He died April 17, 1997.

Mrs. Niemeyer graduated from La Porte City High School. She was a homemaker, a baker and a seamstress for family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Normandy Post 3983 Auxiliary and the La Porte City Country Club.

Survived by: two daughters, Ann Williams and Mary (William) Fratzke, both of La Porte City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Elliott of La Porte City; and two sisters, Charlotte Elliott and Marjorie Rausch, both of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Peggy Jo McIntosh; a son-in-law, John Williams; a sister, Mabel Zobel; and four brothers, George, Harold, Donald and Merle "Gene" Elliott.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with inurnment in West View Cemetery at a later date. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. La Porte City Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or the family.

Toots was a talented cook, especially baking cookies and pies. She enjoyed to sewing and liked to make teddy bears out of old fur coats. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing keepsakes for them.
