WATERLOO - Helen Lavilla Juhl, 95, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Jan. 27, at Friendship Village of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 4, 1915, on the family farm in Dike, daughter of Andrew and Christina Dockwell Juhl.

She graduated from high school in New Hartford in 1923. She lived in Santa Monica, Calif., was a receptionist for various doctors in Chicago, worked for an eye doctor in Alexandria, Va., and was a dining room manager at Michigan Shores Country Club in Chicago, retiring in 1978. She was a hostess at Friendship Village for nine years in Waterloo and a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls.

Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Bergman, Emma Knock and Ella Andersen.

Memorial services: 5:30 p.m. Monday at The Cove at Friendship Village, Waterloo, with burial at a later date in Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Friendship Village.

She loved reading, cooking, candle-making and creating things with her hands. She was especially fond of cats and collected anything with a picture of a cat. Helen enjoyed collecting antiques and held a very high love for her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
