WATERLOO - Peggy I. Lee, 83, of Waterloo, formerly of Austin, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 27, at Affinity House of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Topeka, Kan., daughter of Charles D. and Lucille Burkhardt. She married Richard Lee in December 1965. He died in December 2001.

She retired from civil service duties.

Survived by two daughters, Ileen (Bill) Volkamer of Waterloo and Tammy Abshier of Delvalle, Texas; a son, Everett (Laurie) of North Liberty, Texas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dianna (Robert) Duclos of Topeka, Kan., Patsy Talley of Texas and Judy (Ken) Goodell of Topeka; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother, Dalbert Burkhardt.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St., with inurnment at a later date in Texas. Public visitation for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Peggy enjoyed painting, crafting and spending time with her family and her cats.
