CEDAR FALLS - Matthew L. "Matt" Hurley, 61, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born Oct. 2, 1949, in Waterloo, son of James and Agnes McCarville Hurley. He married Jane Clark in 1972 in Cedar Falls. They later divorced. He married Patricia Ann Pinson June 15, 1996, in St. Peters, Mo.
He graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School in 1967, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Northern Iowa. Mr. Hurley was vice president and general manager of Standard Golf Inc. in Cedar Falls. He served on the Cedar Falls Community Credit Union board, was a member of National Golf Course Superintendants Association, Beaver Hills Country Club, and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls.
Survived by his wife; two sons, Josh (Kamie) of Cedar Falls and Gabe (Julie) of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Mariah of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Madison, Kayla and Rylan of Cedar Falls, and Sydney of Denver, Colo.; four brothers, Jim (Jennifer) of Los Angeles, Mike (Betty) of Cedar Falls, Tim (Kathy McCoy) of Waterloo, and John of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Marge of Cedar Falls, Rose of Prescott, Ariz., and Mary (Brant Mayer) of La Crosse, Wis.
Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to the church, Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, American Martyrs Retreat House or St. Patrick Catholic Church Matthew 25 Fund.
