WATERLOO, IOWA - Doristine Sanders, 70, of Waterloo, died Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born July 7, 1940, in Panther Burn, Miss., daughter of Charlie and Esther Jackson Johnson. She married Roosevelt Sanders in Greenville, Miss., and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sanders was formerly employed as manager of Club Rendezvous and Lindbergh-Whitis Industries, and she also worked at IBP.

Survived by a daughter, Beverly Ann Sanders of Chicago; a son, Roosevelt III (Megan) of Waterloo; three grandchildren; five sisters, Lillian Jackson of Waterloo, Olivia Jackson of Sioux City, Margaret Draper of Adelanto, Calif., Mary Menton of Des Moines and Willie Mae Kyles of Chicago; two brothers, Freddie Lee Jackson of Waterloo and Ira J. Golden of Long Beach, Calif.; longtime family friend, Delores Clark; a brother-in-law, Curtis Sanders; and lifelong companion and friend, Saul Austin.

Preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Cain; and five brothers, Curtis, Grant, James, Albert and Charlie.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Sanders Funeral Service, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 525 Ankeny St., where they will receive friends.
