LETSCH, HOLLIDAY, DOWNING, MAGNUSON, ADAMS

WATERLOO - Richard "Dick" Letsch, 87, of Grimes, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 24.

He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Waterloo, son of Raymond Otto and Gladys Mae Holliday Letsch. On Aug. 20, 1943, he married Dorothy Leona Downing in Clinton, S.C.

Mr. Letsch served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was employed as a tool and die maker for John Deere Co., later teaching tool and die making at Hawkeye Community College. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, and was a past member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Marilyn (John) Magnuson of Evansdale and Lori (Gary) Adams of Grimes; four sons, Tom (Mary) and David (Cynthia), both of Grimes, Douglas (Carla) of Mineola, Texas, and John (Kim) of LeMars; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; two daughters, Nancy Ann Letsch and Susan Kay Letsch; two brothers, Bob and Jack Letsch and two grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Assumption Catholic Church, Granger, with inurnment at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
