ACKERMAN, CHERVENY, BADER, SCHUMAN

WATERLOO - Belva Jean "Bea" Ackerman, 82, of Waterloo, died at home Thursday, Jan. 20.

She was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Eagle Center, daughter of John and Anna Cherveny Bader. She married Donald A. Ackerman on Feb. 15, 1948, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died March 25, 1988.

Mrs. Ackerman worked in the trim department at Rath Packing Co. for 36 years, then worked at Park Towers for five years.

Survived by three sons, John C. (Kathy) of Waterloo, Mike (Robin) of Greentop, Mo., and Robert (Diana) of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Diane (Don) McNamara of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Ackerman, Meaghan (Nick) Beuhler, Becca Ackerman, Jeremy Manning, Nathan Manning, Amanda McNamara, Jordan McNamara, Tina Ackerman and Bob Ackerman Jr.; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (IvaDel) Bader of La Porte City and Don (Minnie) Bader of Reno, Nev.; and a sister, Beverly (Dick) Schuman of Decorah.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Curtis; and a daughter, Ann, in infancy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Bea enjoyed her many lifelong friends she made through her years at Rath Packing Co. and also various social activities. She proved throughout her life to be a strong and steady friend and honest and caring person who loved her children and grandchildren.
