CEDAR FALLS - Caroline I. McVay, 70, of Hiawatha, formerly of Cedar Falls, Harrison, Ark., and Afton, died Saturday, Jan. 22, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

She was born Jan. 19, 1941, in Austin, Minn., daughter of Julian Charles and Florence Elaine Thomas McMullen. She married Robert M. Brimacomb in Austin on Oct. 12, 1957, and they later divorced. She later married Kerry "Bud" Conaway. He died in 1977. She then married John D. McVay. He died Oct. 12, 2007.

Mrs. McVay received her GED in 1997. She was a homemaker and a waitress and had worked at Waterloo Industries as an assembly technician and inspector for 23 years, retiring in 1998.

Survived by: two daughters, Carol Brimacomb of Cedar Rapids and Diana (Bill) Patterson of Leeds, Ala.; a son, Robert P. Brimacomb (Cheryl) of Cedar Falls; two stepdaughters, Corina (Ryan) McVay of Independence, Mo., and Marsha Henderson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two stepsons, Kevin (Angie) McVay of Cromwell and Brian (Leann) McVay of Bridgewater; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra (Ralph) Howard of Austin, Minn.; and a brother, Michael McMullen of Lake City, Minn.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Brimacomb.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Powers Funeral Home, Creston, with burial in Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg. Public visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
