Lyman M. Knudsen, 97, of Waunakee, Wisconsin and formerly of Waterloo died Saturday, Oct 18, at the Waunakee Manor in Wisconsin.

He was born June 26, 1911 in Dike the son of Hans J. and Margaret “Maggie” Walters Knudsen. He served in the Army Air Force during WW II. He married Sylvia Frenzen on September 17, 1943 in Dike and she preceded him in death on June 25, 1996.

Lyman was employed at the Dike Creamery for about 10 years before being drafted into the Army Air Force. He then moved to Seattle where he worked for the Olympic Stain Company before moving back to Dike and ran his father’s shoe shop for several years. IN 1955 he moved to Waterloo and was employed by the Titus Manufacturing Company for 24 years as the lead man in the layout department retiring in 1976.

He was a life member of the Dike American Legion Post for 63 years.

He is survived by 1 son; Charles (Deb) Knudsen of Madison, WI., and 1 granddaughter: Kaylynn (Gregg) Gazvoda of Madison, WI.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Charlie, Leo, and Bernie and an infant sister; Hildegarde.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Oct 25, at the Dike United Methodist church with burial in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Friends may call at the church for an hour before services on Saturday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Dike American Legion Post #471.

The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball in Waterloo is in charge of arrangements.
