WATERLOO - Leona Kentzelman, 84, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 22, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Cedar Falls.

She was born May 24, 1926, in Ackley, daughter of Burnham and Mabel Weaver Larsen. She married Richard Kentzelman on Sept. 14, 1946, in Cedar Falls. He died Dec. 19, 1996.

Survived by: three daughters, Jody Cain of Bellevue, Neb., Heidi (Donald) Apling of Waterloo and Wendy (Scott) Irwin of Dunkerton; three grandchildren, Jacie (Kale) Scheffler, Brandon (Christy) Cain and Jacob Irwin; five great-grandchildren, Cole and Courtney Scheffler, Rebecca and Rachel Cain and Keegan McKaig; three brothers, Bernard (Jan) Larsen of Cedar Falls, Gene (Michele) Larsen of Nora Springs and David (Gwen) Larsen of Rockwell City; and a sister, Arlene (Charles) Simpson of Maple Valley, Wash.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Larsen; and a sister, Avonelle Foutch.

Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Katharine G. Pahl Memorial Chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial in the cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the cemetery chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Leona enjoyed gardening, her cat, bird-watching, snowstorms and cooking and canning fresh vegetables from her garden. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
