WATERLOO — Vernon James Kalkbrenner, 68, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Wall, S.D., son of Louis and Eunice Fuller Kalkbrenner. He married Joyce Schmitt.

Survived by: his wife; seven daughters, Karen (Deryl) Richmond of Kansas, Kim (Glenn) Peterson of California, Kathy Fulks of Waterloo, Jodi (Mike) Ridder of Independence, Sonja (Dwayne) Hoskins of Virginia and Kris Kalkbrenner and Sue (Joe) Cavallaro, both of Massachusetts; four sons, Scott (Kim) Ciesielski and Steve (Andrea) Kalkbrenner, both of Illinois, Rick (Dawn) Ciesielski of Rowley and Vernon (Samantha) Kalkbrenner of Raymond; 30 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Steve (Ruth) of Littleton; and two sisters, Brandi Cole of Minnesota and Mary (Jerry) Lehr of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Carol Ballard.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, with burial in St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup. Military rites will be conducted by Jesup American Legion Post 342. Public visitation from 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to the family for later designation.
