CEDAR FALLS — Virginia Taber, 89, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Jan. 16, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.

She was born June 26, 1921, in Iowa City, daughter of Edward and Lily Capper. She married Carrol Taber, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Taber graduated from Malcolm Price Laboratory School and attended Iowa State Teachers College, both in Cedar Falls. She and her husband farmed in the Dewar area, and she was a homemaker.

Survived by: two daughters, Mary Kirkpatrick of South Carolina and Judy (David) Tallant of Clive; a son, Tom of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Gary; and brother, Clell Capper.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, preceded by an hour of visitation.

Memorials: may be directed to the Virginia Taber Memorial Fund to provide craft projects for Alzheimer's residents at Emeritus or to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
