WATERLOO — Edna B. Engel, 97, of Waterloo, formerly of Waverly and Denver, died Friday, Jan. 14, at Denver Sunset Home.

She was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Maxfield Township in Bremer County, daughter of William C. and Minnie Bahe Wehling. She married Phillip J. Engel on Nov. 10, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo. He died Dec. 1, 1985.

Survived by: two godchildren, Judy (Charles) Hutchison of Davenport and Amanda Hutchison of Peoria, Ill.; also Amanda's brothers, Brian Hutchison of Davenport and Adam (Erika) Hutchison of St. Louis.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Alice Morgan.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 11:30 a.m. until services Thursday at the chapel.

Memorials: may be directed to the Cedar Bend Humane Society.

Edna started writing poetry after her husband's death. Some of her works appeared in the Waverly paper and the Elderway paper in Waterloo.
