WATERLOO — Mary English, 56, of LeGrand, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Jan. 13, at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.

She was born Oct. 21, 1954, in Waterloo, daughter of Leland and Bernadine Kupka Bradley.

Ms. English graduated from South Tama High School in 1972 and later received her licensed practical nurse degree. She worked at the MMSC and most recently did nursing home care in Ames.

Survived by: two daughters, Stacey (Mark) Gunderson of Marshalltown and Jennifer English (Blake Phipps) currently stationed in Afghanistan; a son, Brian of Montour; two grandchildren; four brothers, twin Gary (Tammy) Bradley of Chelsea, Rick (Laurie) Bradley of Chicago, Ron (Jo) Bradley of Chelsea and Tim (Michelle) Bradley of Tama; and a sister, Terri (Scott) Slagle of Tacoma, Wash.

Preceded in death by: her parents.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marshalltown, with burial in National Cemetery, Vining. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Marshalltown, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Mary English, 56, of LeGrand, died late Thursday night, January 13, at the Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown with Fr. Jim Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery at Vining, Iowa. Following the interment, friends and family are invited to the American Legion in Tama for a fellowship. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service.

Born on October 21, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa, she was the daughter of Leland and Bernadine (Kupka) Bradley. Mary graduated from the South Tama High School’s Class of 1972 and later received her LPN degree. She was passionate about nursing and worked at the MMSC and most recently did nursing home care in Ames. She was raised in the catholic faith and was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge in Tama. Ms. English also spent time residing at Lake Rathbun near Centerville. Mary enjoyed fishing and camping, dressing in the latest styles, finding good bargains at the second-hand store or garage sales, time with her friends and treasured her family. She always did what she wanted to and knew what she wanted - all in a good way. She will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Stacey (Mark) Gunderson of Marshalltown, Jennifer English currently serving in the Iowa National Guard stationed in Afghanistan and her fiancé Blake Phipps, and Brian English of Montour; her precious grandchildren Chase and Madelyn Gunderson, her siblings: twin brother Gary (Tammy) Bradley of Chelsea, Rick (Laurie) Bradley of Chicago, Ron (Jo) Bradley of Chelsea, Tim (Michelle) Bradley of Tama, Terri (Scott) Slagle of Tacoma, WA, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In death, she rejoined her parents.
