DARLING, LARIMER, VINCENT, GARVIN, LANKFORD, HENRICH

WATERLOO - Loren F. Darling, 89, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Newell, son of Charles and Elsie Larimer Darling. He married Alice Vincent on Nov. 5, 1944, in Dyersburg, Tenn. She died Aug. 13, 1998.

Mr. Darling owned and operated Northeast Motor Express for 28 years, retiring in 1981. He served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survived by: two daughters, Jenny Garvin (Wayne) Manchester and Lindsay Darling of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Matthew (Marcia) Garvin of Cedar Rapids and Sarah (Greg) Lankford of Conway, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Dean Garvin and Megan and Matthew Lankford; a sister, Evelyn Henrich of Newell; and a sister-in-law, Edna Darling of Winterset.

Preceded in death by: three brothers Merlyn, Max and Kirby.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial in the cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138. Public visitation an hour before services Friday at the cemetery chapel. Locke Funeral Home assisted the family.
