WATERLOO - Marlys May Nieman, 68, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Jan. 11.

She was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Waterloo, daughter of Paul and Naomi Lyon Kraft Sr. She married Richard Nieman on Nov. 21, 1964, in Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Nieman was a waitress for 22 years and a day care provider for 26 years.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Robert of Los Angeles; two daughters, Shelda (Tim) Sawyer and Peggy (Brad) Lewis, both of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Shawn (Brett) Bristol of Granada Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren, Natasha, Taylor, Megan, Robert and Corey; three great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Caleiyah and CaDainian; 36 adopted grandchildren from day care; and a sister, Velvet Heath of Palo.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Paul Kraft Jr. and Merle Hanson; and a sister, Maxine Scott.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in Washington Chapel Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition-Iowa Division or Cedar Valley Hospice.
