CLARK E. HAYS

Funeral services will be at Community church in Hudson, lowa, at 2 p.m. tomorrow for Clark E. Hays. 72. who died at 9:45 p.m. Friday in Christie convalescent home. Cedar Falls, of a heart ailment.

A former coal firm operator in Waterloo, Mr. Hays had lived in Hudson, Iowa, since 1943, His stepdaughter, Mrs. Owen Campbell. His wife, the former Mrs. Verna [Cook] Hendry of Nashua, Iowa whom he married in 1930, preceded him in death, October 7, 1947.

He was born April 23, 1875, in Hardin County, the son of William T. and Emma E. Hays, and come to Waterloo with his parents when he was a youth. He worked as a barber for several years before entering the coal business. He retired before moving to Hudson.

Mr. Hays was a member of the of the Christian church at Robertson, Iowa. He had entered Christie Convalescent home as a patient October 15, 1947, and had been there since.

Surviving are a brother, C. D. Hays, 533 Home Park Boulevard. five stepchildren, Mrs. Campbell at Hudson, Al and Roger Hendry, both of Florida, Mrs. E. W. Reintz, Des Moines, and Mrs. Wayne Hamilton, Waverly; nine step grandchildren and two nephews.

The body will be taken from Locke Funeral Home here to Hudson Monday noon. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery.
