WATERLOO - Rita Marie Gjere, 66, of Waterloo, died Monday, Dec. 6, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born March 14, 1944, in Caledonia, Minn., daughter of Leverne and Belinda Bjergum Holland. She married Dean Gjere on Feb. 2, 1963, in Spring Grove, Minn.

Mrs. Gjere had been employed with J.C. Penney Co., Sears, Iowa Metal Spinners and retired from Platt's Nursery.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Kim (Marty) of St. Louis; a daughter, Tammy (Kenny) Quam of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Gjere of St. Louis and Kole and Alexis Quam of Waterloo; a great-grandchild, Connor Gjere of St. Louis; her father of Spring Grove; and four brothers, Bob (Karen) Holland of Cedar Falls, Chuck (Pearl) Holland of Mabel, Minn., Jeff (Denise) Holland of Spring Grove and Dennis Holland of La Crosse, Wis.

Preceded in death by: her mother

Services: noon Saturday at Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
