here Tuesday for
Edward Bixby, 81

Funeral services for Edward D. Bixby, 81, were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hudson Untied Methodist Church. Reverend John Louk presided with Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Hudson Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Hudson Amvets Post 82, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and Waterloo Amvets Post 19.

Edward (Ed) Bixby, died Saturday, April 27 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 2, 1915, in Hudson, the son of C. A. and Edith Moody Bixby. He was untied in marriage with Elsie Frisch June 25, 1950, in Nashua, Iowa.

Ed owned and operated Bixby Plumbing and Heating for 40 years following World War II where he served as a paratrooper with the Screaming Eagles Airborne Division in Europe. He retired from business here in 1977. Ed was a Charter Member and a lifetime member of Hudson Amvets Post 82, where he was actively involved as long as his health permitted.

He is survived by his wife; a sister, Mary Bixby of Hudson; and a brother, John Bixby of Miami, Florida.

He was preceded in death by a son Robert, in 1977; two sisters, Blanche and Marie; and two brothers, Craig and Albert Bixby.

Memorials may be made to Hudson United Methodist Church.
