WATERLOO - Gladys Ruth Rhoton Roeth, 85, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 25, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Clayton, N.M., daughter of Stephen and Julia Walker Rhoton. She married Robert Smith in 1945; they later divorced.

She was educated in Clayton and attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology. She was a waitress at George Webb in Milwaukee and a member of First United Methodist Church in Waterloo.

Survived by: two sons, Stuart (Rhonda) Smith of Waterloo and Stephen (Lorri) Smith of Traer; three daughters, Beverly Smith of Independence, Linda Farina of Waterloo and Barbara (Ron) Michalak of Portland, Maine; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a granddaughter; and three brothers, Olen Rhoton, Howard Rhoton and Elmer Rhoton.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
